“two lines oblique down”
“Two Lines Oblique Down” is a kinetic artwork piece created by George Rickey (1907-2002). Made of stainless steel, this pendulum inspired piece holds a range of steel linear components that create both a ‘Y’ shaped immovable piece and two wind-powered mobile pieces. The piece emphasizes the relationship between space, movement, and time.
Rickey created multiple versions of this artwork during 1969-1970 across the United States. The piece in front of the Mead Museum was a gift from Bertram H. Bloch, Amherst College class of 1933, and the Burlington Industries Foundation.
