Robert Frost Statue
Robert Frost, both a teacher and a poet, was a member of the Amherst College Faculty for more than 40 years. Teaching in the liberal arts college beginning in 1917, the Amherst College library is named after him.
The statue was created by sculptor Penelope Jencks and weighs roughly eight tons. Jencks chose granite due to its ruggedness, representing Frost’s ties to New England. The statue was dedicated June 2, 2007 during Amherst’s Reunion Weekend, a gift from the class of 1957.
Frost’s statue sits gazing toward the Frost Library, symbolizing the significance of the teaching at the college.
