peace pagoda mural
Created by Eve Cristoph in 1985, the “Peace Pagoda Mural” covers the entire east side of a carriage house. Depicted on the mural is a large tree beside a pond along a green landscape. Hanging from the branches are symbols and shapes that represent religion and spirituality. On the surface of the pond, people are painted dancing hand-in-hand. A pair of hands hold galaxies spattered along a black space. In the far left border is a depiction of the Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist stupa, that was built in Leverett, Massachusetts. The Peace Pagoda was finished roughly around the same time as this mural.
Painted on the brick wall, the piece has lost some of its color vibrancy but still maintains a message of spiritual acceptance.
