war memorial at memorial field

Dedicated January 1st, 1946, the Memorial Field Monument was built in honor of the Amherst College men who served in both World War I and World War II. In the distance you can see the Holyoke Hill Range.

Dedicated by alumni of Amherst College, the memorial includes a stairway, cylindrical centerpiece, markers, and an exit to Memorial Field. The centerpiece has four cardinal points and stars along the edge. Between the cardinal points and the college’s logo are the names of individuals who served, separated by the war they served in. The markers on either side have engravings of battles from both wars.
