amherst books
Founded in 2003 by Nat Herold and Mark Wootton, Amherst Books is a locally owned, independent bookshop that supplies both new and used books to the Pioneer Valley. The store started with a focus on selling academic books to colleges in the surrounding area but has since branched out to selling a much wider range of books. In 2008, Shannon Ramsey, under the apprenticeship of Wootton, took over as a co-owner of Amherst Books with Herold. From books to merchandise, the bookshop has made itself a name in Amherst. Bringing in authors and hosting literary events has separated this store from others. The store's self identified strengths include poetry, literature, and philosophy. The literary hub of Amherst, Herold and Ramsey have established their value as a cultural institution.
Amherst Books is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm, closed on Sundays. Visit their website for more information.
